Translation FAQs
How do you carry out translations?
Your dedicated Project Manager will oversee our 3-step Quality Translation Process (Translate, Edit, Proofread), and work with our DTP/formatting specialists to ensure your translations are a mirror image of the original documents, completed on-time and on-budget.
What is the “3-step Quality Translation Process”?
A 3-step translation means that your files will be (1) translated by a professional linguist, then (2) edited/checked by a second linguist, then, after formatting, (3) undergo a full proofreading cycle.
What is DTP (Desktop Publishing)?
DTP means formatting documents for printing and publishing, either in print or online. Prisma has a full Production Dept that can create mirror versions of your documents in any language, font or application required.
What type of files will be sent back to me?
Our standard process is to deliver the translated files in the same application as the original files (Word, Excel, InDesign, etc.), and to deliver a PDF file of each translated file.
When can I expect to receive my translations?
Your dedicated Project Manager will confirm the delivery date as soon as we have it, taking into account your requested delivery date. We do our best to meet your deadlines without sacrificing quality.
How will my translation be delivered?
- We have multiple ways to deliver translated files:
- Requests that come to us via Washington’s SAW Portal are delivered via the SAW Portal.
- Some requests are delivered via email.
- Most requests are delivered via a secure link, which allows large files to be safely delivered to you, and also allows files with sensitive information to be securely delivered.
